If Hosted Chef ever has an outage, our monitoring will spot it and our wonderful Ops team will jump on it and fix it right up.
If you enter a support ticket, Chef Support will respond confirming an issue and as soon as we are aware of an all-clear, we will communicate that back in the ticket.
A few things to check for on your side first before assuming an incident with Hosted Chef would be:
- status.chef.io - If we mention something here with a timestamp that seems likely, you can ignore the other potential issues in the list below
- knife.rb settings
- Proxy settings at your site
- New network egress ACLs at your site
As mentioned above, during an incident, we can monitor the progress of the incident and the work to fix it at status.chef.io. This centralization of inforomation keeps everyone on the same page and allows our Ops staff to work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
